Digital Security is becoming a Top Priority for organizations large and small as they continue their journey of accelerated digital transformation. However, one major issue which was faced by organizations was how to understand the level of security they have. We are pleased to introduce you to a new Security Service called Secure Score. This is a measurement of the security posture of the organization.
Following the secure score recommendations can help organizations increase their security. With the help of secure score, organizations can now work on specific areas to improve the Microsoft 365 identity, data, apps, devices, and infrastructure.
Let us look at the visual of Secure Score:
In this picture you see a Secure Score of an Organization at 26.59%. It also gives a graph of how it has moved over in time. What is also interesting is that it gives a comparison benchmark of Secure Score for similar Organizations.
Some of the key things you can do are:
- Check your current score
- Compare your score to organizations like yours
- View improvement actions and decide an action plan
- Initiate workflows to investigate or implement

Required permissions
To have permission to access Microsoft Secure Score, you must be assigned one of the following roles in Azure Active Directory.
Read and write roles
With read and write access, you can make changes and directly interact with Secure Score. You can also assign read-only access to other users.
- Global administrator
- Security administrator
- Exchange administrator
- SharePoint administrator
- Account administrator
Read-only roles
With read-only access, you are not able to edit status or notes for an improvement action, edit score zones, or edit custom comparisons.

- User administrator
- Service administrator
- Security reader
- Security operator
- Global reader
